TEENS FOR JEANS

Assalamu 'alaikum~

THINK OF THE HOMELESS YOUTH, YOU GUYS.
BRING YOUR (unwanted) JEANS TOMORROW~~ LAST DAAAAYYY~

please. ((:

The post below this one holds most of the information, but I'd still like to remind everyone that there are PRIZES and you will also be helping the COMMUNITY~ School goals and all, you know?

I've been told that even if the jeans are ripped, bring 'em in 'cause Aeropostale (the store the jeans will be dropped off at) will fix them. It'd be great if you took care of the tear yourself though.
Also! They don't neccessarily have to be teen jeans.

Anyways~
Here are 5 Facts about Homeless Youth from the website:
1. The National Coalition for the Homeless defines homeless youth as individuals under the age of eighteen who lack parental, foster, or institutional care.
2. 1 out of every 3 homeless people are under the age of 18.
3. 1.6 to 1.7 million people under 18 will experience homelessness each year.
4. The majority of homeless and runaway youth are between the ages of 15 and 17, however three out of 100 runaways are under the age of 10, and 11 out of 100 are between the ages of 11 and 13.
5. Approximately half of all runaways were physically abused before fleeing home.

"Teens For Jeans" Drive

AA to students of ISI.

As you all know, we made an announcement during assembly talking about a jean drive. Well, this jean drive is called "Teens For Jeans". It is organized by Aeropostale and they want us to donate jeans that you don't wear or fit you anymore so that they could give it to the homeless youth. Even if you have torn jeans, donate it because when we give it to the shelter for the homeless, they will fix it. (But we would really appreaciate it if you knit it at home.) Please participate in this event. Ask your parents, your aunts and uncles and ask them if they have any jeans they don't need.
It's a competition and the winners and their awards will be listed below:
> 1st Place: Pizza Party
> 2nd Place: Donut Party
> 3rd Place: Popcorn Party

Al-Hedayah is also participating in this event, but is not qualified in the competition.
Please take this event seriously to show that we are contributing citizens and community builders! :]

First Post!

You're president speaking. ;o

Um, so here's how I want our posts to look like? If you need a place to host your icons or whatever, use photobucket or tinypic (the latter if you're too lazy to sign up for an account. :3).

If you're having trouble aligning your picture the way I did, here's the code-- just remember to switch your post thing to 'Edit HTML' and not 'Compose':
<**img src="http://www.blogger.com/THEURLOFYOURIMAGE" align="left"*/>

(Or instead of left, you can use right, whatever floats your boat).
Remember to get rid of the *'s when you actually use the code!

As we discussed, Fahmaan and Nawal are the ones mainly taking care of this thing. So you guys get started on making it all nice when I give you access okay? Everyone else can pitch in too, if you have anything.
When all is good and ready, then perhaps we can print out a small flier to give to the students, or just use our good ol' tongues to spread the word~

If there are still any questions, feel free to answer to the email I sent or reply to this post. :))
